Our Story
My name is Jake and I’m the Co-Founder of Freddies. Sustainability has always been my passion. I co-host a podcast on the subject called the Greenscore which looks at the changes we can all make in our everyday lives to live greener. I also run an online marketplace called Carnabys dedicated to promoting men’s sustainable fashion and changing the industry.
I also have a second passion – recruitment. I am the Co-Founder of Venture Up, a specialist Tech and Digital recruitment company who have worked with some of the biggest disruptors in the space.
I wanted to fuse these two passions – recruitment and sustainability – and work with companies doing something about the climate crisis by finding them the people they need to achieve their goals and help us all tackle the biggest issue of our time – climate change.
So Freddies was born. Its named after my son – I want to do my bit to ensure he and the next generation get to experience the same amazing planet and nature I have.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
I’ve been working in recruitment for nearly 9 years, with experience across a range of industries and job remits & seniorities. Despite this variety, I have always felt that good Recruitment Consultants can adapt, providing they focus on relationship building, understanding & exceeding expectations. I’ve taken that philosophy with me throughout my career, working across civil and technical engineering, finance and IT, and it has done me well so far!
Life is short, and when I hang up my recruitment boots I want to know I made some difference – in my case by working with partners to find them the best talent to develop the solutions we need to tackle climate change. Its this that has inspires me knowing that I will be making some difference for partners and thus the planet.
I’ve been working in recruitment since 2007. A lot has changed since when I first started! But those 16 years of experience have allowed me to work with every sort of organisation size, and every sort of role! Its this experience I bring to my clients. I love what I do – and I am always straight with my clients so you know exactly where you stand in the course of any recruitment campaign. I’m really excited to bring that experience to the public sector, and work on projects that also have a direct impact on my family and friends!
